Products and Uses

Gasoline

Gasoline is a type of fuel that is widely used in cars and motorcycles. The Company’s refinery was the first one in Thailand to produce Euro IV standard gasoline, with certain changes in the oil product specifications including a decrease in the amount of sulfur from 500 ppm to a maximum of 50 ppm, which reduces sulfur oxide (SOx), carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxide emissions. The amount of benzene, which can cause cancer, has also been reduced.
The company also produces gasoline base (G-Base) which, when combined with 10%, 20%, and 85% of Ethanol, will become gasohol E10, E20, and E85 respectively. Today, the Company produces Gasoline 95, Gasoline 91, Gasoline Base 95, and Gasoline Base 91 primarily for domestic distribution.

Diesel / Gas Oil

Diesel fuel is used in the diesel engines found in cars, trucks, tractors, passenger boats, fishing boats, trains, and industrial factories. Today, all diesel fuel sold or offered for sale in Thailand must contain 7% biodiesel.

Thaioil refinery is Thailand’s first producer and distributor of Euro IV standard diesel where the sulfur content is 7 times lower than that in the previous standards. This helps reduce sulfur oxide (SOx), carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxide emissions, as well as soot and lampblack, into the atmosphere. It further increases the performance of diesel engines.

Jet Fuel

Jet fuel is a type of aviation fuel used in aircraft with jet engines. There are two types, namely commercial jet fuel (Jet A-1) and military jet fuel (JP-8) used in fighter jets to allow the aircraft to fly at high speeds.

Kerosene

Kerosene is similar to jet fuel. It is used as a fuel for heaters to provide warmth in cold-climate countries and also as cooking fuel.

Fuel Oil

Fuel oil is a type of industrial fuel. Thaioil’s fuel oil is divided into 3 grades.

1. Fuel Oil A (FOA) is transparent with a low viscosity of 80 centistokes at 50°C and low sulfur content, as well as being clean and soot-free, which makes it suitable for use with clean-fired equipment such as that used in tile manufacture.

2. Fuel Oil C (FOC) has a moderate viscosity of 180 centistokes at 50°C with a sulfur content of 2% or less according to its weight. It is used in medium to large factories to power engines or steam turbines to generate electricity. It is also used in kilns and furnaces for metal melting and making cement.

3.Bunker Fuel has a high viscosity of 380 centistokes and can be used to power ocean liners. The sulfur content can be a maximum of 3.5% or 4.0% according to its weight.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)

It is a type of gas that has been liquefied for convenience in storage and transportation. It is used for cooking as well as in cars and industrial factories. It is also used as a starting material in petrochemical plants. LPG consists of 60% propane and 40% butane. The gas sources include refineries, gas separation plants, and imported gas.
