Thaioil achieves SAM Gold Class in Oil & Gas Refining and Marketing

for the 6th year, ranked by SAM Sustainability Award 2020

    Bangkok: SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), the corporate sustainability assessor for DJSI, has recently ranked Thai Oil Public          Company Limited as SAM Sustainability Gold Class for the 6th year in Oil & Gas Refining and Marketing among many companies globally. This Gold Class is the highest distinction in SAM Sustainability Award 2020 and achieved SAM Industry Mover, the largest proportional improvement in its sustainability performance compared to the previous year.

    Mr.Wirat Uanarumit, Chief Executive Officer and President, Thai Oil Public Company Limited, stated that “This times, over 4,710 of the world’s largest companies are invited to participate in the SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment. The 61 industries have been evaluated, which Gold Class is the highest level in sustainability assessment. This is considered to be the company of its industry creating value for stakeholders over the long term as well as effective risk management while bringing business opportunities under the changes of global economic, environmental and social developments. Thaioil has focusing on all three dimensions: growth economy, creating value for society, and excellent environment management. This was done under corporate governance principles and aimed to satisfy all stakeholders fairly (ESG). Hence, Thaioil has been achieved SAM Gold Class for 6 years in Oil & Gas Refining and Marketing and achieved SAM Industry Mover, the largest proportional improvement in its sustainability performance compared to the previous year. Moreover, Thaioil ranked in a group of sustainable world leaders for 7 consecutive years in Oil & Gas Refining and Marketing.

In addition, Thaioil has extended environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) to subsidiaries and partners for long term growth” Mr. Wirat added.

  • January 2014, Thaioil has qualified and has received the Gold Class distinction for the excellence sustainability performance in oil & gas industry by RobecoSAM who does the corporate sustainability assessment for DJSI. Eligible for the Gold Class is the highest ranked level of RobecoSAM Sustainability Award 2014.
  • In January 2015, Thaioil has been ranked by RobecoSAM as number 1 of sustainability in the oil & gas industry. In this assessment, Thaioil has also been announced as gold class for 2 consecutive years which is the highest ranked level of RobecoSAM Sustainability Award 2015.

  • In January 2018, RobecoSAM has ranked Thaioil globally as RobecoSAM Gold Class of sustainability in oil & gas refining and marketing for 5 consecutive years which is the highest level of RobecoSAM Sustainability Award 2018.
  • In February 2019, SAM has ranked Thaioil globally as Silver Award of sustainability in oil & gas refining and marketing which has been ranked in a group of sustainable world leaders for 6 consecutive years.
