Due to the rapid widespread of the COVID-19 Delta variant, which has caused a sharp spike in the number of infections, frontline medical and healthcare personnel have been working tirelessly to cope with the situation. With a commitment to help elevate the quality of life in the community and the society for a better future together, Thaioil, as Thailand’s provider of energy security for 60 years, has initiated the “Delivering Energy, Lifting Spirits” campaign, which aims to play a role in boosting the morale of medical and healthcare professionals in their fight against COVID-19. The campaign, worth over 12 million baht, involves many forms of support, including the delivery of fuel and chemical cleaning products to public health agencies to facilitate the vaccination drive and increase the efficiency of the transportation of medical instruments and supplies.
Thaioil has been providing fuel and chemical sanitizing products to several public health agencies and other organizations, namely the Department of Health, the Ministry of Public Health, the Thai Red Cross Society, Siriraj Hospital, and Chulalongkorn Hospital. In conjunction with PTT Group, the company has also provided fuel support to 13 provinces, set up COVID-19 screening units and end-to-end COVID-19 field hospitals, provided fuel support to the Office of the Supreme Patriarch’s Secretary for the cremation of COVID-19 patients at temples across the country, and provided fuel support to the Federation of Thai Industries for the delivery of Care Boxes (survival kit boxes) to patients under home or community isolation.
The “Delivering Energy, Lifting Spirits” campaign has also provided the much-needed fuel support to MT Pakpoom Dejhasadin or Mor Lab Panda’s “Back Home” project, which helps return COVID-19 patients to their hometowns for further treatment. Fuel support has also been supplied to Chonburi Provincial Public Health Office and Sriracha District Public Health Office for essential medical transportation. Moreover, the campaign has played a significant role in facilitating the operation and management of the COVID-19 vaccination center at Ao Udom Community Center in Chonburi to ensure a quick and efficient vaccination process for Laem Chabang and Sriracha residents. The community surrounding the company’s refinery also received alcohol gel sanitizer and disposable face masks for COVID-19 protection.
Mr. Wirat Uanarumit, Chief Executive Officer and President, Thai Oil Public Company Limited, said, “The Delivering Energy, Lifting Spirits campaign stems from the need to contribute to the society in helping the public overcome the COVID-19 crisis. As mass vaccination is of top priority in creating immunity, we have joined forces with several public health agencies to ensure widespread vaccine distribution and have cooperated with the private sector on transporting COVID-19 patients to their hometown hospitals for treatment. Support has also been given to teams of volunteers who help facilitate the hospitalization process for COVID-19 patients. We sincerely hope that our contribution plays a role in the successful concerted efforts to provide aid and care to the Thai people during these challenging times.
Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, said, “The support that Siriraj Hospital received from various organizations, particularly from Thaioil’s “Delivering Energy, Lifting Spirits” campaign, has significantly improved the efficiency of vaccine distribution, medical transportation, and other forms of proactive COVID-19 measures. Support in the forms of fuel for medical service vehicles and chemical disinfectants has lessened our financial burden and helped advance our efforts to provide care for the general public. Bolstered by the aid received from Thaioil, our medical and healthcare professionals will be able to fight to end the COVID-19 crisis with higher morale.”
In line with its mission to “empower human life through sustainable energy and chemicals” and upon its 60th anniversary, “Thaioil’s “Delivering Energy, Lifting Spirits” campaign continues with its activities that aim to share values with the society and provide support to the Thai people. We are hopeful and confident that Thailand will make a safe and swift recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.
